Medellin, Colombia

Growing up in Medellín, Colombia, I discovered my passion for art in the vibrant streets of Comuna 13. Renowned today for its colorful murals and transformative community spirit, Comuna 13 became the backdrop for my artistic beginnings. At the age of 18, I began painting and selling my works to tourists visiting the area, using art as a medium to share stories of resilience and hope.

Finding Art in Comuna 13

Medellín’s history of transformation deeply infl uenced me as I honed my craft. My early paintings refl ected themes of renewal and connection, inspired by the murals that adorned the walls of my community. Selling my artworks not only nurtured my creativity but also motivated me to learn English so I could better communicate with international visitors. These interactions sparked a love for cultural exchange and storytelling, which later led me to become a tour guide in Medellín, sharing the rich history and artistic vibrancy of
my city.

Formal Training and Artistic Growth

While much of my talent was self-taught, I pursued formal training to refine my skills. A course at the Milan Art Institute expanded my artistic horizons and helped me develop a unique style characterized by themes of transformation, serenity, and resilience. My work celebrates beauty in adversity, weaving personal experiences into every brushstroke.

From Medellín to New York

Today, my life has come full circle. I am bringing my art from the streets of Medellín to the galleries in New York City. My journey is a testament to the power of creativity and determination. My latest series showcases an evolving style that bridges cultural narratives and invites viewers to see the world through my perspective.

Looking Ahead

As I prepare for upcoming exhibitions, I refl ect on how far I have come—from painting for tourists in Comuna 13 to sharing my work with audiences on an international stage. My story is one of many.
